Guitar Man
Written by Don Morris and Tom Skinner
@Uncle Don's Music BMI 1997
Each of the men in the old promotional photo were and are a "guitar man" described in this song.
"… Work's been steady for the guitar man."
Their entire lives, work has been music.
This was the first song that Uncle Don wrote with Tom, they wrote many more time-tested songs that you might hear being performed at a concert by an Oklahoma or Texas Red Dirt artist.
One of my favorite songs from last century… the early 25 years of Red Dirt music.
I figured it was time that Red Dirt women render this tune about a working musician… so I asked two of Oklahoma's most talented and hardest-working songwriters and singers to join me on this recording. They blew the roof off Charlene Ripley's studio when they sang this song!

Thank you so much to my hardworking guitar women, Red Dirt sisters Carter Sampson and Ali Harter Street! We had a young 'guest' help us out on one of my favorite spots in the song- 9-year-old Bonnie Harter Street, Ali's daughter….listen for her singing on the line "For the people!"
Guitar Man was recorded on this 1997 Dusty Children band album, along with many wonderful Red Dirt tunes.
